Thin Film with Reaction Wheel Type

We have studied about thin film on which the solar cells are attached. It can drastically increase the specific power (W/kg). Although our study about this type of solar battery has been intended to be used for a large membrane structure, its result is also applicable to small satellites.

One idea of extending thin film is utilizing centrifugal force gained by rotation of satellite itself. Rotation is generated by momentum wheel and bearings must be attached on the top and bottom of the can in order not to twist the tether.

We made a model of this type (see this).

Manufacturability

Main structure is the same as that of primary battery.
Manufacturability of thin film is to be studied.

Depend on the cost of thin film but expected to be cheap.
