ON THE USE OF AMATEUR FREQUENCY BAND FOR THE CUBESAT MISSION
We, Intelligent Space Systems Laboratory, Department of Astronautics, University of Tokyo, would like to use amateur frequency band for space radio communication using a satellite.This does not aim for commercial use but for self training, communication and research activity based on individual interest in radio communication.
The purpose of our satellite are as follows;
- Experiment on RF propagation of newly developed FSK/FM transceiver and CW transmitter customized for a nano-satellite.
- Development of orbit estimation technique using Doppler data
- Data collection experiment through internet with the aid of radio amateurs all over the world
- Taking images of Earth using commercial CMOS image sensor
- Verification of COTS components including micro-processor, memory and Li-ion batteries in space environment
- Verification of passive attitude control system using permanent magnet and evaluation of thermal condition of the satellite

We the UT CubeSat team won the President Prize. The purpose of this prize which started last year is "to award prize from the President to the students who got very high appraisal or grade, or enhance the honor of the University of Tokyo, in academic work, extra curricular activities, social activities, and inter-university exchanges."
